Hospice Services
Rowan Regional Medical Center provides compassionate at-home care to patients and supportive care to their families. When curative measures are no longer an option, hospice care helps make the patient comfortable during the end stages of life. Volunteers are also a vital part of the hospice program because many of them were introduced to the program while caring for a family member.
The hospice team meets regularly to discuss each patient's case and ensure that his or her needs are being met. Our team of hospice professionals include:
Physician
- supports the hospice team on medical issues suggests treatment.
Registered Nurse
- monitors the patient's disease and symptom management options.
Medical Social Worker
- provides family counseling and assists with long-term planning and resources to meet the patient's needs.
Certified Nursing Assistant
- assists patients with personal care, home exercises and activities of daily living.
Physical Therapist
- assesses and instructs family/caregivers on special safety needs.
Occupational Therapist
- assesses the patient's home and suggests modifications to make daily activities easier.
Speech Therapist
- assesses speech, swallowing, and non-oral communication and language difficulties.
Chaplain
- provides spiritual comfort for patients and their families and supports the patient's individual faith organizations.
Volunteers
- provide companionship and respite care for patients and their families and assists with errands for the family.
