Hospice services are covered by a variety of reimbursement sources including Medicare, Medicaid, State Employees' Health Plan, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and other insurance carriers.

Patients also may pay privately. When the patient is referred to hospice, a patient accounts specialist explores reimbursement options to advise patients of resources and any patient co-pay required by individual insurance carriers. The specialist discusses options whenever patients are unable to pay for services.
