PERIPHERAL ARTERY DISEASE SCREENING
11/21/2009 - 11/21/2009
If you are a diabetic, smoker or have high blood pressure or cholesterol, you may have increased chances of developing Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), which puts you at greater risk for stroke or heart attack. Common symptoms include cramping, pain or tiredness in the leg or hip muscles while walking or climbing stairs. RRMC is offering a free, painless ankle-brachial index test that compares the blood pressure in your feet to the blood pressure in your arms to determinehow well your blood is flowing. The ankle-brachial index takes less than 10 minutes and approaches 95 percent accuracy in detecting PAD.
