A
breast
self-exam is recommended once a month. You don’t need
to see anybody for this exam, you can do it all from the comfort
of your own home. The exam is intended to detect any breast abnormalities
that you might need to call your provider about for a clinical
breast exam or a diagnostic
mammography. The exam is also intended to help
you become familiar with the natural inconsistencies of your breast
so you are better capable of detecting any future abnormalities.
The breast self exam is best performed three to five days after your
menstrual period, in three parts: the shower, lying down and in front
of the mirror. |
