Women
who only have sex with other women are still at a risk, albeit
lower than heterosexual women, for contracting certain STDs. Obviously,
the risk of pregnancy is eliminated. However, bisexual women should
use birth control when they are having sex with men and be consistent.
The risk of transmitting certain STDs such as HIV is greatly reduced
in sex between two women. Keeping your partner’s body fluids
out of your body is the best way to practice safe sex. You should
be careful about menstrual blood, vaginal fluids and discharges
from sores caused by STDs. Barrier methods for oral sex, including
dental
dam, are helpful for preventing the sharing of body fluids. And
the use of condoms and latex gloves for other stimulation is also
a safe
alternative.
