In addition to the pelvic exam and Pap test, your OB/GYN will examine your breasts for any abnormalities. This is also to look for early signs of cancer, because breast cancer is often detected through abnormal lumps in routine exams. Your OB/GYN will teach you about breast self-exams. As a young woman, it’s important for you to get into the habit of examining your breasts yourself so that you know how they normally feel.
